Watershed Wednesday: Celebrate Earth Day!

This #WatershedWednesday we are celebrating our Earth! Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day for education about environmental issues. Now the holiday is a worldwide celebration that’s sometimes extended into Earth Week— a full seven days of events focused on green living and confronting the climate crisis.

Locally, Earth Day has indeed become Earth Week! This year, Gallatin Valley Earth Day (GVED) events focus on water in celebration of 50 years of the Clean Water Act! GWC has been a part of the GVED planning committee and we’re excited about what’s coming up. GVED has put together an amazing schedule of events for community members to get involved in festivities. In addition to the comprehensive list of activities, here are some highlights:

Wednesday, April 20th:

  • Talks: PechaKucha Night at the Ellen Theatre. Several presenters will address environmental topics related to Earth Day. Topics vary from an individual opinion on logging in the Black Ram area, mushrooms and their role in the environment, to a personal perspective on “climate trauma.”
