Busy Beavers Recap: March and April

IAWP Busy Beavers have been out and about monitoring groundwater, attending educational workshops, and more! Read the highlights in this blog post.

Groundwater Monitoring Training:

  • The IAWP Busy Beavers grabbed their waders and headed out to the Indreland Audubon Wetland Preserve to learn how to monitor groundwater levels! Data collected from wells and piezometers at the IAWP will be used in design plans for the wetland.

Educational Workshop: What the Heck is a Mitigation Bank?

  • Wendy Weaver from Montana Freshwater Partners led a lecture on what mitigation banks are and how they are used on a local level. A very complicated topic, indeed! Thank you to all of the attendees for their questions and to Wendy for her time and knowledge.

Ambassador Training:

  • In partnership with GVLT, Outside Kind, and Sacajawea Audubon Society, an Ambassador Training took place at Story Mill Park. Key topics were trail etiquette, ground nesting birds, the effects of dog waste on the watershed.
