July 22nd: Shower Better Challenge!

City of Bozeman Water Conservation Division.png

The City of Bozeman Water Conservation Division puts together free water challenges and activities for kids! This week, we’re showcasing one of those activities: The Shower Better Challenge. Recruit your family members and have them record the length of their showers over the course of a week. At the end of the week, you can calculate the total gallons of water used by each family member!

Showering accounts for an average of 20% of your family’s indoor water use! Committing to shorter showers can significantly reduce your household’s water use.

If you are a city water customer, you can pick up a free Shower Better Kit from 20 E. Olive on the second floor (Planning Dept). Just go up to the front desk and ask for a kit! You will just be asked to sign out the kit by writing your name and address.

The kit includes shower better stickers to teach kids good shower habits, an educational coloring and activity book to learn about water conservation, a faucet aerator that accommodates both male and female applications on faucets to reduce your faucet’s flow rate, a shower timer that suction cups to your shower wall and has a 5-minute hourglass timer, and two toilet dye tablets to check for toilet leaks in your home!
