Celebrating 20 Years of Watershed Stewardship

In early November, nearly 150 community members gathered to celebrate the Gallatin Watershed Council's 20th Anniversary, and what a celebration it was! Together, we honored two decades of collaborative stewardship for the Gallatin Watershed—a shared effort to ensure healthy water resources for all who call this place home.

The night was alive with the joyful tunes of Celtic Collective and the energetic calls of Christa Torrens, leading us in a lively round of contra dancing. It was a heartwarming sight to see people of all ages coming together on the dance floor. Delicious food provided by Food for Thought Catering fueled the festivities, and the room buzzed with connection and celebration.

The evening’s highlights included reflections from Mayor Terry Cunningham, Board Chair Tom Langmo, Executive Director Holly Hill, and Restoration Director Lilly McLane. Each shared personal stories and insights on how the Council’s work has touched lives and shaped our community over the past 20 years. From the early days of picking up trash along waterways to managing large-scale restoration projects and shaping policy, the message was clear: our collective efforts are making a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to our event sponsors, whose generosity made this celebration possible: Montana Water Center, WGM Group, Montana Whitewater, Bozeman Folklore Society, Happy Trash Can Compost, Trevor Schumacher Photography, and Nana Louie Farm.

As we look forward to the next 20 years, we remain committed to our mission and inspired by the stories and support of our watershed community. Thank you for being a part of this incredible milestone. Together, we can continue to protect and enhance the Lower Gallatin Watershed for generations to come.
