2020 Business Super Steward: The Western Cafe!
Gallatin Watershed Council has teamed up with the City of Bozeman Water Conservation Division to launch our Watershed Stewards for Business Program. Gallatin Watershed Stewards for Business provides local businesses with the information and resources needed to become actively engaged in the local community’s watershed network through a pledge. Within this pledge, businesses agree to participate water conservation, stewardship and education, addressing water quality issues, and community engagement (i.e. volunteering and recruitment). As a historic icon and steward of the Bozeman community and Gallatin valley, the Western Cafe proudly makes concerted efforts to help our watershed. Here are some of the small and large scale projects they have undertaken to protect this vital resource:
coordinating, installing, and maintaining one of the valley's first permeable sidewalks
planting, maintaining, and hand watering a garden on their property,
using fully compostable to go containers and utensils,
locally composting all of their coffee grounds,
installing low water use toilets,
using plant and pet friendly ice melt
We appreciate all of these beneficial and intentional changes Western Café, and we hope that your efforts inspire others to take similar steps to prioritize and protect our community. Thank you Julie & the Western Cafe for all that you do!
