2021 Annual River Cleanup: The Watershed Community Bands Together!

Every year, we host a watershed-wide river cleanup in partnership with the Gallatin River Task Force. This year we were once again overwhelmed with the stewardship from our watershed community. Across 12 various sites within the Lower Gallatin Watershed, over 110 community members prevented 900 pounds of trash from entering our waterways! We found strange things - fingernails, fart bombs, a myriad of plastic toys, and your run of the mill garbage.

We want to thank everyone who came out and dedicated their time to leaving their cleanup locations better than they found them. We enjoyed celebrating with our participants with some sandwiches, beverages, and water-themed tunes after the event! A big thank you to our partners: Republic Services, REI, First Security Bank, and Montana Angler.

Let’s continue to clean up our watershed in our daily lives as we enjoy recreation on our waterways - for us, and for all of our downstream neighbors. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s event!
